Welcome to my website! My name is Terri and I am a plant enthusiast and hobbyist. I’ve been gardening for about 30 years and enjoy unique and rare plants. I don’t have any formal training in botany, although my degree is in biology, I do use scientific nomenclature for plants since common names can mean different plants in different parts of the country.
YOUR STORY
I started gardening as a means to lose weight. Other activities, such as jogging and going to the gym, left me bored and dissatisfied. I decided if I was going to work hard, I would like something to show for it. Anyone that has done yard work knows that digging holes, carrying bags of mulch, and weeding, use a lot of energy, especially in the state of Georgia, where the heat index can reach 106 degrees in August. My first attempts at growing plants were pathetic. I began reading books and 30 years later, I am still learning.
WHY I WANT TO HELP PEOPLE
Stress is a major problem for most people. Relationships, jobs, politics, and finances are all so difficult. Almost every aspect of our lives today creates stress. A garden can be a peaceful oasis away from the madness and turmoil of the world. There are a lot of blogs that deal with several topics such as gardening for food, flowers, herbs, and urban gardening. My blog will simply be to emphasize the beauty of plants for rest and relaxation. At dramatic gardens, you will see plants that you have probably never seen before. Some of these plants still take my breath away. I hope to bring back the wonder of life that we all felt as children.
THE GOAL OF YOUR SITE
Landscaping design is a very difficult and competitive profession. There are problems finding clients, contractors, and skilled labor. Budgeting can cause serious headaches for designers. Usually, cheaper plants are chosen to save the client’s money. When I drive through a neighborhood, I see the same old tired plants over and over again. My blogs will be mostly about my videos since I am more of a visual person than a speaker or writer. These videos will showcase unique and rare plants.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
Terri
